Compliance
How Kesy keeps AI calls within CRTC rules — and what stays your responsibility.
Our approach
Kesy makes and answers calls for real businesses, so it has to follow the rules for recording, AI disclosure, outbound calling and data protection. Where we can enforce a rule in the product, we do — so it doesn’t depend on someone remembering.
Calling in Canada (CRTC)
The CRTC Unsolicited Telecommunications Rules apply to outbound business calls. Kesy enforces these safeguards on every outbound call:
| Rule | What Kesy does | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| Calling hours | Only dials 9 AM – 9:30 PM on weekdays and 10 AM – 6 PM on weekends, in the person’s own time zone. It looks up each number’s time zone from its area code and waits when it’s outside the window. | Nothing — this is automatic and can’t be turned off. |
| Consent | Won’t launch a campaign until you confirm you hold the required consent for those contacts, and records that confirmation. | Hold the consent required for every number. |
| Do-not-call | Adds anyone who asks not to be called again to your block list. | Check the National Do Not Call List (DNCL) and your internal do-not-call list before uploading contacts. |
| Identification | Opens each call with your business name and a recording notice. Never claims to be human. | Keep your business name and greeting accurate. |
This page explains how Kesy works and isn’t legal advice. Laws differ by state and province, and some are stricter than federal rules — if you’re unsure, talk to a lawyer before running campaigns.
Inbound calls and recording
- Kesy records and transcribes calls so you can review them. Every call opens with a short notice that it may be recorded — this matters in all-party-consent states such as California and under Canadian privacy law.
- Kesy never pretends to be a person. If a caller asks whether they are talking to an AI, it says yes.
- Kesy will transfer to a human when your rules say so, and takes a message when it can’t help.
Data protection
We handle personal information under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws. Details are in our Privacy Policy and Security page. We never sell your data or your callers’ data.
